Protecting the Foundations of the Family Home

All property owners have the right to expect quality and safety in their homes. However, shifting economic trends have led to builders' shortcuts to save time and money. As a result, this has negatively impacted quality in many instances, resulting in construction defects and costly building repairs. Unless property owners take action, they are left to pay for these repairs themselves.

In one of Austin's major new home developments, a "big builder" failed to meet the required standard.

The homeowners did everything that they knew to do; they reached out to the builder, and they were led to believe that everything was normal. However, much to the homeowner's frustration, they learned that not only the original issue had worsened, but it had caused additional problems with other parts of the home. On the other hand, the builder is okay with this outcome because the clock is running.

Texans display greater litigation hesitancy than some of the other states that our firm operates out of, i.e., California and Colorado. The statute of limitation in Texas is ten years from completion and two years from when the defects are discovered. You must act quickly if you want to protect your home. The big builder would rather not fix the issues they have created through their negligence. This is evidenced by the fact that their war coffers are much deeper than their repair budget.

Our firm's unique combination of experience representing homeowners coupled with its past experience representing developers has proven to be an invaluable advantage to our clients in protecting their rights as homeowner associations and homeowners.
